So yeah, haven't posted in a while. Anyhoo, my brothers at the hospital because a 2nd story deck fell on him and some friends at his friend's house.  He's probably ok but they want to xray his neck and stuff.

Bnad Cmap

Band camp sucks tomorrow. Oops, starts tomorrow...'scuse me, freudian slip.  8-4 every day for the next week and a half or so. It's gonna suck since they're tearing up the band lot to start building the new wing, and eventually new High School, so we're going to have to practice on grass somewhere.  It'll be fun to see people again though.

A Return to the Subject of Religion...

"Hey, someone suggested i look at your blog because you "like, hate God" well, i have a question for you. You probably consider yourself a logical person since you figured out to yourself that there couldn't possibly be a God because a verse or because people make things up. ask yourself: Who designed this world we live in? If there is a design to this world, and there most definitely is, then who designed it? molecules formed everything? if you broke a watch into many thousands of pieces and put the pieces into a bag and shook them up, how long would it take you to make the watch into the perfect watch it was before it was broken? impossible. There was no molecules to can combine to all of a sudden make the earth a place where if certain things didn't work together nothing would be able to survive. I don't know the reason that made you not want to be a Christian anymore, if you ever were, and I didn't used to be a Christian. But whether I like it or not, God is there and He is watching you, always and forever.
and yeah, its true some people just go to church and pass their religion down, but some people don't. Not all Christians are the same, yanno. and just because some Christians are hypocrites doesn't mean we all are. thats okay i know this message means nothing to you, so i'll go now hoping you'll question your beliefs a little bit."

That ^ is a comment left under one of those religious posts.  First, I don't, like, hate God! :)  To hate him would require that I believe him to exist.

What you asked is a question that people have been asking ever since we were developed enough to ask questions. (1,000's of years).  Where did we come from, and why?  People have come up with 1,000's of solutions.  Your solution is the Christian God, and there's absolutely no reason that your solution is any better than any of the other thousands of solutions.  I have my own solutions, shared by many other people, that are based on scientific observations.  While I am not 100% confident in the correctitude of my solution, I am 100% confident in the incorrectitude of the notion that some entity existing outside the bounds space, time, and all of my solutions created us out of nothing.

Your solution was not the first, or the last, but it was the luckiest.  It was lucky enough to survive until today with thousands of people who believe it.  It has been lucky enough to have people who accept the convenient sidestep of common sense if it will give them a sense of knowledge, purpose, and belonging.

I can't explain how the universe was created, but people used to blame thunder and lightning on God.  Then we realized that was electrical discharge.  People used to blame disease on God.  Bacteria, viruses, etc.  People used to blame famine on God, rain, wind, dreams, any aspect of life that was difficult to understand, was the work of God.  As society developed, we learned the true causes of these, and crossed them off, one by one, our list of stuff God does.  Creation is coming up soon on that list.

Would you like to save %10 by applying for a Target Red Card??

I was working at Super Target on Sunday night as a cashier.  They said that anyone who got a Target Red Card (credit card) application before 9:00 got a free cd.  I got one but I had no idea what to get since I have already downloaded everything I want off Shareaza.  I picked the new Weezer album, Make Believe on a whim, and it turned out to be pretty good.  I already had Beverly Hills but there are plenty of other great songs on it, reccomended.

Back to the Target red cards, I guess Target must get a ton of money from Visa on those because they push us to get application pretty hard, at least at our store.  There is some kind of contest/promotion every week that involves us getting some kind of prize for every application, so its a good kind of pushing hard, but I hate trying to get applications.  Maybe 1 in 1000 people will apply for one without selling it real hard, which I'm not good at.  I always hated selling things door to door for Boy Scouts or school or band, because I know people don't want them, the stuff is probly crappy, and people who knew me or the family probly felt like they were obligated to buy one.

So anyway, that's not really something I enjoy about working at Target.  I don't know how many times I say "Would you like to save %10 by applying for a Target Red Card??" every shift.  It's a great job, though, for a 16 year-old.  $7.75 starting wage, I make $8, flexible hours, etc.  Reading Fast Food Nation by Eric Schlosser has made me realize how great it really is.  He talks about how bad fast food restaurants treat their teenage employees, not paying overtime, not allowing unions, and doing whatever they can to avoid paying them.  It's a great book, but unfortuanately 4 years old.  Heh, I want to work at a McDonalds so I can try to start a union.  As of 2001, it was never done successfully. They would close the restaurant or try to bargain and be nice...I'd probably get on tv.  That's all for now, I guess.
